We partner with industrial businesses to protect what they've built and help them grow responsibly over the long term.
Kinzua Capital was born in Youngstown, Ohio in a region defined by industry, grit, and resilience. We believe in businesses that are tough, reliable, and built to last. Our heritage is more than history – it shapes how we invest today.
For business owners, selling is never just financial. It's about your people, teams, and decades of work. We understand that. Our role is to ensure continuity; to preserve what you've built, protect your workforce, and keep your company's culture alive.
People come first – operators, employees, and local partners who show up every day and do the work. We take care of our own because strong businesses are built by people who feel protected, trusted, and invested in. When people are empowered, business thrives.
We believe results come from discipline on the floor, not promises in a deck. Every operation, process, and team is pushed to perform at its best — day in, day out. No shortcuts, no excuses, just consistent execution.
We look for opportunity where others see chaos, complexity, or risk. Growth doesn't happen in comfortable places — it happens by stepping into tough markets and figuring things out hands-on. That's where we do our best work.
We communicate clearly and directly, grounded in what's actually happening on the ground. Decisions are made based on real data, real people, and real conditions — not theory. No spin, no polish, just honest conversations that lead to action.
We build businesses with decades in mind, not the next quarter. Our focus is on durability — assets, operations, and communities that can stand the test of time. Long-term thinking guides every decision we make.
Ownership means responsibility — for the people, the operations, and the places we operate in. We don't invest from a distance; we stay involved, accountable, and present. Capital works best when its paired with personal commitments.
“It was great to see S&S Processing, our second generation metal processing business, continue under the leadership of the Coil Works and Kinzua team.” — Paul Phillips
“We needed an advisory team that we could bounce ideas off of. We got an injection of capital and know how to grab opportunities we never had before.” — Joe Zimmerman
“My role isn't to manage from a distance. I work side by side with the teams of each company we own.” — Clayton Cornell
A company's legacy is measured not only by the businesses it builds, but also by the communities it supports. Through philanthropic initiatives and nonprofit partnerships, we are committed to making an impact beyond industry.
Kinzua Capital (Pronounced Kin-zoo) draws its name from the Seneca Indian word meaning "fish on a spear" — a symbol of focus, skill, and striking with purpose. The Seneca were among the most formidable nations of the Iroquois Confederacy, renowned for their strength, resilience, and fierce defense of their homeland across the deep forests and valleys of what is now northeastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and New York. Their legacy and fierce spirit is woven into this land. Today, the Kinzua region anchors the Allegheny National Forest — thousands of square miles of forested mountains, lakes, and rivers that remain as wild and enduring as the people who first called it home. For us, the name and its meaning are personal. These are the forests, mountains, and waters where we grew up — hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, and hiking across seasons and generations. Kinzua is where we escape to reconnect with nature and relax, it has shaped how we think about patience, heritage, and playing the long game. That same spirit drives how we build businesses: with focus, intention, and deep respect for the people, the places, and the legacies that made us who we are.
We understand that selling is never just financial — it's about people, teams, and decades of work. Let's talk about how we can continue your story with respect for what you've built.
